MUSC: 34-year-old patient died from Swine Flu

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A patient at the Medical University of South Carolina has died as a result of the flu, according to hospital officials.

Heather Woolwine with MUSC confirms a 34-year-old died due to H1N1 complications. The H1N1 flu virus is more commonly known as Swine Flu.

Woolwine was not able to confirm the patient's gender or when they died due to HIPAA laws.

Health officials say flu season typically peaks during January and February.
