Primary Care Physicians to bring new medical campus to Summerville

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - A group of independent physicians are to unveil their plans to create a new medical campus in Summerville that would bring 1,500 jobs to the Lowcountry.

Equity Healthcare and Palmetto Primary Care Physicians will introduce their vision for the Palmetto Health & Wellness Campus on February 10. The new state-of-the-art campus will be built at the Nexton master planned community in Summerville.

Officials say the campus is projected to employ 1,500 people, with 75 percent of those being new jobs. The downstream effect has the potential to create four times as many jobs in support services.

The $135,000,000 project will initially include two 150,000-square-foot Class A medical office buildings, with an Ambulatory Surgery Center, a Clinical Decision Unit, a 24 hour urgent care center, and much more.

Future phases to the campus will include a memory care center, cancer center, hospice, assisted and independent living units, and a hotel with medical amenities.
