Anonymous donors add $4k to reward for information on teen's killing

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say anonymous donors have added $4,000 to a reward for information regarding the homicide of an 18-year-old.

Crime Stoppers and the Charleston Police Department are looking for information on the shooting death of Malcolm Jefferson, a former West Ashley High School student, who was killed on Oct. 8 on Forbes Avenue.

Officials say the reward for information is now at $5,000 and good until June 30, 2014.

Authorities say Jefferson, from Charleston, died on his 18th birthday from a gunshot wound in West Ashley.

According to a police report, the shooting happened after just after midnight at 1139 Forbes Avenue, off Magnolia Road in the Maryville neighborhood. According to authorities, an investigation seems to indicate that Jefferson was shot outside the home and ran inside where a number of people were playing cards.

Officers arrived on scene to find Jefferson in a shed suffering from several gunshot wounds to his torso.

Jefferson was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina, where he later died.
