Berkeley County preps for next round of winter weather

MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC) - Berkeley County is laying out its game plan for round two of a wintry mix Tuesday night into Wednesday. County officials say two weeks ago preps and plans were executed very well.

Berkeley County supervisor Dan Davis says, while the county isn't equipped to handle a major snow storm, it has been through plenty of cold and freezing weather over the years. Davis says they do maintain a reserve of salt and sand for their buildings, but they leave the salting of the roads to the Department of Transportation.

"We partner with them. We make out equipment available to them and kind of take our lead from them so that we're not duplicating, and it's coordinated, and that has always worked out well."

The DOT says it has crews and equipment ready to be dispatched. Crews will work rotating shifts until the roads are clear. The shift work will begin Tuesday morning.
