BONNEAU, SC (WCSC) - The big ice storm which paralyzed the Lowcountry knocked out power to the entire town of Bonneau this week.

"The entire zip code of Bonneau's actually without power, not just the small town of Bonneau," police chief Franco Fuda said Thursday.

We found a house where trees surrounded an entire front yard. One tree fell on the homeowner's car.

"Very disappointed and it was gonna do damage and break in," Artimus Brinson said.

Brinson's electricity has been out since ten o'clock Wednesday morning.

Officials blame the mess on the ice that fell on power lines, making some of them fall, as well as toppled trees.

For folks living here, no power makes them feel powerless.

"Listening to trees pop, fall, trying to clean out driveways, trying to stay warm with the fireplace, and it's about all we can do for right now," said resident Tommy Nolen.

Brinson says with the power out, he can't charge the motorized chair that helps him get around.

"This has been bad, really bad. I didn't expect it to be quite this bad. The other one was bad enough."

Police and volunteer firefighters checked the homes of senior citizens to make sure they are okay.
