BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Southbound traffic along I-95 south in Beaufort County is starting to move following an 18-wheeler fire that shut down traffic Friday afternoon.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is reporting that the incident is in the area of Exit 42 to Orangeburg.

Motorists in the area earlier reported that southbound traffic was stopped, while emergency crews cleared the scene of an 18-wheeler that caught on fire.

Authorities are letting northbound traffic pass slowly through the area.

Witnesses in the area say the driver of the truck got out safely.
