Suspect charged in Johns Island stabbing

JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing another man in the stomach following an argument late Sunday night.

Charleston County deputies say the stabbing took place in the front yard of a home in the 3800 block of Chisolm Road on Johns Island.

An incident report states the suspect, Jason Ammons, was riding in a car with two other people when Ammons and the victim go in an argument. When they arrived at the home, Ammons got out of the car, opened the back door where the victim was sitting, and stabbed him in the stomach, officials say.

Deputies say the victim's friend, who was still inside the car, drove them to a nearby gas station to get help.

The victim was then transported by EMS to MUSC.

The report states Ammons was later arrested at his home. He is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center.
