ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) - Family members say a 9-year-old Rock Hill girl who shot and killed was at the center of a custody battle involving her maternal grandparents and her father's side of the family. The child's paternal grandfather is charged with murder in her death.
The Herald of Rock Hill reported (http://bit.ly/1gpYNwb) that maternal grandparents Paul and Sang Mee Rodgers say they raised Mia Rodgers almost from birth until she was 7.
Mia and her paternal grandmother, 71-year-old Barbara Gregory, were shot and killed Friday. Charged in their slayings is 67-year-old Ronald Gregory, who police say shot himself. He's charged with two counts of murder.
The Rodgers family says courts awarded custody of Mia to the child's father and his parents after her mother died.
It wasn't clear Sunday if Ronald Gregory has an attorney.
