SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Cadaver dogs have been brought into an investigation after a mummified body was found in an abandoned home in Summerville.
Investigators say the body is of a man who has been dead for more than five years. The home where the body was found was searched two days ago, but no one at the scene would comment.
On Monday, Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet confirmed he asked for the cadaver dogs.
Dorchester county sheriff's deputies were also out Sunday helping looking for clues and any evidence that may help solve the mystery of the dead man.
The body was in an abandoned home on Parsons Road in Summerville. Authorities say someone taking pictures in the area found it.
The coroner's office and the sheriff's office are investigating the cause of death.
Nisbet says he is hoping tests will determine if the man was murdered or died of natural causes.
