NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - Officers are investigating an overnight shooting on Ottawa Avenue in North Charleston.

Reports say officers with the North Charleston Department responded to the 3300 block of Ottawa Avenue around 3 a.m. Sunday morning in reference to a shooting.

Police say the victim of the shooting, a female, was involved in an altercation at a separate location earlier.

The suspect, also a female, reportedly arrived at the victim's residence and started banging on the doors and windows trying to get the victim to speak to her, according to police.

Reports say the victim and other occupants of the residence heard gun shots and a vehicle speeding away.

Authorities say the victim was struck by a bullet and taken to MUSC.

The incident remains under investigation by the North Charleston Police Department.
