CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The South Carolina Aquarium released a juvenile loggerhead sea turtle back into the wild at Isle of Palms County Park on Monday afternoon.

The turtle named Huntington was in the aquarium's care for almost a full year.

Huntington was found floating and unable to dive in the water off Huntington Beach by Peter Grace and his family last year.

"We were fishing off the coast of Hunting Beach State Park about a year ago and we saw a turtle floating on the surface and he was obviously in trouble, and he was having a lot of trouble diving," Grace said on Monday. "It was obvious he was in bad shape."

Grace said after several tries, he and others pulled the turtle aboard his boat.

"He didn't struggle at all when he was in the boat," Grace said.

The family then contacted emergency officials with the sea turtle rescue program.

Both Peter and his son Cullen were on hand for Huntington's release Monday afternoon.
