Firefighters are trying to determine the cause of a fire Monday night at a vacant home in Ladson that rekindled hours after firefighters secured the scene.

Old Fort Fire Chief  Ed Genthert says the house, located on Margaret Drive, had no electrical power.

Genthert says his department received a call at approximately 11:23 p.m. Monday and arrived on scene to find a heavily-involved fire at the rear of the house.

It took firefighters 45 minutes to bring the fire under control. After extinguishing the fire, Genthert says crews used a thermal imaging camera to search for any additional fires.

At 5:21 a.m. Tuesday, firefighters were called to the same location to fight a rekindled fire in the same area of the home, Genthert says.

The investigation is ongoing because of some activity involving juveniles in the neighborhood, Genthert says.
