Police: Woman arrested for pointing gun after argument

NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - Police arrested a woman they say pointed a gun from a balcony at an officer and three people with whom she had earlier been in a dispute Saturday morning.

Josephine Washington, 27, was charged with pointing and presenting a firearm.

North Charleston Police responded to Rebecca Street shortly before 7 a.m. for a report of a verbal dispute, according to police spokesman Spencer Pryor. The responding officer made contact with Washington and three males who were involved in the dispute, Pryor said.

Police say after the officer resolved the incident, he escorted the males to the parking lot and then heard Washington say, "I'll give you a reason to leave," then looked up to the second floor balcony where he observed her pointing a handgun at him.

According to Pryor, the officer drew his weapon and discharged one round which struck the side of the building. Police say Washington fled into her apartment and exited after several minutes and was taken into custody.
