A spooked carriage horse ran full speed down Limehouse Street Thursday afternoon and crashed into a Tradd Street home, causing minor injuries and damage to the home.
Witnesses said the horse started bucking on Limehouse Street at around 3:48 p.m. and the driver attempted to calm the horse, but instead the horse began running down the road.
According to Charleston Police spokesman Charles Francis, when the horse turned the corner, it crashed into a house at 150 Tradd Street and came to a stop next to a tree. The horse received minor lacerations to its face and legs, Francis said. There was minor damage to the home as well, police said.
There were five people on the carriage at the time of the accident, and one passenger received a bump on the leg, police said.
The horse and carriage belong to Charleston Carriage Works, Francis said.
Police are trying to determine what spooked the horse.
