SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Police arrested two men after they say a shot was fired during an altercation between two cousins and a third man at a Summerville gas station Tuesday night.

Summerville Police arrested Christopher Huckabee, 26, of North Charleston; and Lawrence Bridges, 36, of Summerville.

Police say when they arrived on the scene of a reported shooting at the Kangaroo Gas Station on Trolley Road just after 10 p.m., they found Huckabee and Bridges, who told them a third man who was armed and had fired a shot into the air, had fled after an argument turned into a physical altercation.

Both men told police the third man was Huckabee's cousin, according to the police report, but they could not provide police with the man's name because "they didn't know him very well."

Police say the pair initially claimed no shots had been fired, but when a responding officer found a single 9mm shell casing on the ground near one of the gas pumps, Huckabee said the unidentified man did fire one shot after he assaulted Huckabee.

A witness disputed the account, stating Huckabee instigated the fight and the third man fired a shot into the air to stop the altercation.

Police say they located a bag from Huckabee's front pocket that contains a green plant-like material, which Huckabee told them was "Spice."

Bridges told police he knew nothing about the incident, but during a search of his vehicle, police found a black and white bag in the front seat that contained four individually-wrapped bundles of cash each labeled as bundles of $2,000, the report states. Bridges told police he had paperwork explaining why he had such a large amount of currency, but that he "couldn't talk about it."

The officer also reported finding a "very dirty plastic bag" from the front passenger's floorboard that contained a green plant-like material, which tested presumptive for marijuana. Bridges produced a fifth bundle of cash from his pocket, which he told police he forgot he had, the report states. Authorities say Bridges was unable to provide the paperwork, saying it was in another vehicle at his residence.

Police say Huckabee was given citations for fighting in public and simple possession of marijuana; and Bridges was issued a citation for simple possession of marijuana.
