GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say they are investigating an armed robbery after deputies working a separate case saw a man whose face was covered in blood in Georgetown County.

On Friday just before 4 p.m., deputies were working on an unrelated case in the Greentown area on Player Road when they saw a man walking down the road.

When deputies approached the man they observed he was in need of medical attention.

Authorities say the man's face was covered in blood due to injuries sustained from being pistol whipped.

The victim said he was robbed of money and pistol whipped. After the robbery, investigators say the suspect then ran into woods off of Player Road toward McDonald Road where authorities believe the suspect left the area in an unknown vehicle.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5'9", 160 pounds wearing a white shirt whit white pants and armed with a gun.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at (843) 546-5102.
