The hashtag chsyou has been popping up everywhere online. Thousands have been showing their love for Charleston.
Mayor Joe Riley is even officially calling June 30 Social Media Day.
Smday is the hashtag being used all around the world and here in Charleston, another hash tag, chsyou is picking up steam.
Ashley T. Caldwell, CEO of The Modern Connection said, "We started this campaign about three weeks ago."
The social media firm is one of the groups promoting the popular hash tag.
"We're estimating that the reach, the amount of people who have been exposed to this hashtag is right around 600 thousand people," said Caldwell.
According to information from SnapCastr, another social media firm, people have liked, shared and commented on chsyou about 40,000 times.
A hashtag is a group of words with no spaces and a pound sign in front of it. Adding it to your posts could get you more clicks and possibly reach more people who are searching that topic.
Caldwell said, "Because of this campaign, we're actually being seen as a social media hub in the world, which is a really big deal."
Caldwell says it's all about getting your name out there and says the chsyou hashtag has been nothing but good for Charleston.
"Social media is in its prime and it's getting a ton of attention and interaction, and it's great that Charleston is participating on such a hugh level," said Caldwell.
Social Media Day was started four years ago by popular tech website Mashable and it's just getting started here in Charleston.
Mayor Riley says Social Media Day is a way for the entire community to celebrate advancements in technology.
