Bomb threat cleared at Roper St. Francis Hospital

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Officials have cleared the scene at Roper St. Francis Hospital following reports of a suspicious package Sunday.

Officials say a woman enter the emergency room at the hospital this morning around 9 a.m. She was later escorted to her car where someone thought she had fertilizer and a gas can in her vehicle, according to officials.

Authorities were called to the scene around 1:00 p.m. including a bomb squad and HAZMAT.

Authorities say they discovered that she had Quikrete and a gas can which was turned on its side. Authorities say they later determined there were not any explosives or bomb making materials in her car.

Authorities were able to give the all clear around 5:30 p.m.

Officials say she is not facing any charges and she has been taken to another hospital for treatment.
