DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Prosecutors say a 32-year-old Summerville man was sentenced to life in prison for raping two children.

Jonathan Michael Brown was found guilty on Wednesday of three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and given three concurrent life sentences.

A press release states that prosecutors presented direct evidence that was located in Brown's cell phone as well as DNA evidence during the trial.

The jury deliberated for 30 minutes before reaching the verdict.

According to prosecutors, Brown was accused in July 2013 of sexually assaulting two children ages 6 and 8.

"These cases are always very difficult to prosecute so I am very proud of the hard work of not only my staff but also of the great work done by Sergeant Detective Jason Mosher and the Officers of the Summerville Police Department as well as the Dorchester Children's Center," said David Pascoe of the First Judicial Court.

Editors note: Prosecutors had earlier indicated that Brown was convicted of sexually assaulting three children.
