MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - A child locked in a car outside of a Walmart prompted a passerby to call police Thursday afternoon.
Mount Pleasant police say a mother forgot her wallet inside of the store and pulled up to the curb with the car running, air conditioning on and doors locked. Authorities say the woman then ran into the store.
The woman says she was gone less than a minute, but that was enough time for someone who saw the child to call the police.
Police determined the child wasn't in any immediate danger and warned the mother of the dangers of leaving a child in a running car.
On Wednesday, we reported several instances of people taking action when they see young children in parked cars.
Across the nation, several children have died as a result of being left in hot cars.
