Deputies investigating Charleston Co. home invasion, shooting

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is searching for two suspects after a late night shooting and home invasion.

Deputies responded to 3300 block of Evergreen Oak Road just before midnight Thursday to investigate a report of a shooting incident and found the victim lying in his driveway with a bullet wound to his left chest but who was still conscious and breathing.

A woman who was also in the victim's home along with two young children told police two people forced their way into the victim's home and shot the man in the chest. She also said the intruders used duct tape to secure her and pistol whipped her.

Deputies say the home appeared to be ransacked by the suspects as well. During the incident, there was a five-year-old and one-year-old in the home, but they were unharmed according to the incident report.

The male victim was transported to the hospital and is being treating for a gunshot wound to the chest.

Deputies say a motive for the shooting is not known at this time and they are searching for the two people.
