Stranded woman rescued by Coast Guard helicopter on James Island

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - A woman was rescued by the Coast Guard when she became stranded in water on James Island Friday night.
The Coast Guard says around 10:15 p.m. dispatchers received a call from someone in the area of Sweet Grass Road saying they could hear a woman calling for help in the direction of a swampy area.
Officials tell Live 5 News they called in a helicopter unit and located the woman who seemed to be stuck in the mud.
According to the Coast Guard, the woman was hoisted up into the helicopter and will be checked out by EMS.
The woman was alone. It is not yet clear how she got stuck.
