NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office says an armed robbery suspect took off after his intended victim fought back, took his gun and fired shots at him outside a home in North Charleston.

Investigators released pictures and videos on Tuesday of the July 21 incident. The victim, a 46-year-old man, said it all started when he went to buy some items at the Kangaroo gas station on 2213 Ashley Phosphate Rd.

According to the victim, he believes the suspects observed that he had several $100 bills in his wallet when he made some purchases.

Police say it's believed that the suspects got into their vehicle, a white SUV, then followed the victim to his home on Tedder Street.

The victim said when he arrived home, one of the suspects approached him and asked him directions to Orangeburg.

Investigators say as the victim was walking to his front door, the suspect took out a gun and said,"Give me everything you've got or I'll shoot you."

The victim said he then hit the suspect's hand, and a struggle ensued at which time the suspect's watch and shoe was knocked off. A police report states the victim was able to get the suspect's gun as the suspect fled towards the white SUV.

The victim told police that he believed the suspect was going to the car to retrieve another gun, and he was in fear for his safety.

Authorities say the victim then fired two rounds at the suspect. The victim said he believed he hit the suspects' vehicle.

The victim said the suspect then got into the passenger side of the SUV as another suspect drove the vehicle out of the area.

A witness, the victim's son, said he heard the disturbance outside the home and heard his father telling him to call police.

Another witness said she saw the victim and the suspect fighting, then saw the suspect run to a vehicle with the victim on the ground. The witness reported that she heard two gun shots, and saw the vehicle speeding away.

Deputies located a watch and shoe in the victim's yard belonging to one of the suspects. Authorities say the suspect's gun was found to be stolen out of Hampton County.
