JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Firefighters responded to four separate fires on James Island early Saturday morning, according to Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch.
According to dispatchers, one of those reported fires was on Peas Hill Road, two were on Ocean Neighbors Boulevard, and the fourth was on Clearspring Drive.
Charleston Fire officials on-scene at the fire on Peas Hill Road said lightning may have been the cause of that fire, though that determination has not yet been officially made.
According to firefighters, four people were at home at the time, and the roof sustained significant damage. The Red Cross was called to help the family.
Charleston Fire, James Island Fire, and St. Andrews Fire all responded.
According to Charleston Fire officials, the damage at the other three fires is believed to be minimal.
Dispatchers say the cause of those three fires, on Ocean Neighbors Boulevard and Clearspring Drive, which are right around the corner from each other, may be weather-related as well.
