JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - James Island Charter High School students will no longer be allowed to use cell phones or electronic devices during the change of classes, according to a post on the school's Facebook page.

The post, which appeared on the James Island Charter High School Communication Facebook page at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Monday, states that cell phones and electronic devices may only be used during lunch and before and after school.

The devices are not permitted during the change of classes, advisement or study hall period without the "explicit, direct permission of the teacher," the post states.

The policy allows students to use devices during approved times in common areas of the campus, which include the cafeteria, courtyard and hallways, but not classrooms, the library and other instructional areas, according to the school's website.
