NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston police have released images of a suspect involved in an armed robbery and stabbing at a Rivers Avenue dollar store over the weekend.

Police say the incident took place Saturday at Value Dollar, located at 3421 Rivers Avenue, around 8:30 a.m.

According to an incident report, a male suspect walked into the store and asked a cashier to exchange two dimes and a nickle for a quarter so he could do laundry.

As the cashier opened the register, the suspect reportedly stabbed the cashier in the right side of her chest, grabbed cash from the drawer, and fled the scene. A witness at the scene says the suspect got on a bicycle and rode down Rivers Avenue before turning on Cosgrove Avenue.

Police say the cashier was taken to MUSC to receive treatment for her injury.

Surveillance video shows the suspect, who is described as a light-skinned black male approximately 5'11" and about 160 pounds. He was wearing a khaki baseball hat, a light blue t-shirt, and light blue basketball shorts with a white and dark blue design on the sides.
