COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A Lowcountry Head Start bus with children on board swerved off the road Wednesday morning to avoid an accident, according to the Highway Patrol.

The bus, which was traveling north on Highway 17A north of Round O, was passed by two cars in the oncoming traffic lanes causing an oncoming car to swerve, Sr. Trooper Hannah Wimberly said.

To avoid a collision, the bus went off the right side of the road, then overcorrected and went off the left side of the road, Wimberly said.

There were 27 children and two adults on board at the time, according to troopers. No injuries were reported.

No one was issued a ticket because the cars who caused the bus to swerve did not stop, Wimberly said.
