NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston police say two people were arrested Thursday night after the smell of marijuana led to the discovery of over 2 pounds of pot, cocaine, and guns.

According to report, officers were patrolling an area of Stall Road around 8 p.m. when they noticed the smell of marijuana coming from a group of people in the Tri-County Apartment Complex. One of the subjects was spotted entering apartment 32 and closing the door.

Police say the odor of marijuana was coming from apartment 32, and loose green plant-like material and a digital scale could be seen through the apartment's window sitting on a kitchen table.

A report states a search of the apartment uncovered a total of 2.15 pounds of marijuana hidden throughout the residence, 28.9 grams of cocaine, a loaded 9mm handgun and a shotgun.

Anthony Lavar Simmons, 28, and Shakira Washington, 32, were both arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine 28-99G, possession of a firearm during a violent crime, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

As police questioned people outside the apartment, two men, 25-year-old Cedric Lamont Jenkins and 29-year-old Terrell Kenyon Dunmeyer, reportedly began shouting profanities and threats. After initially resisting arrest, the two men were taken into custody for disorderly conduct.
