DD2: BB gun found in book bag at Fort Dorchester High School

A small, unloaded BB gun was discovered in a book bag at Fort Dorchester High School on Wednesday, school officials confirm.

The school was placed on administrative lockdown after school leaders received a report of a "contraband item," Dorchester School District Two spokesperson Pat Raynor said.

Students were held in classes until the situation could be investigated by administrators who searched students and their book bags in an area of the school where the item was believed to be, Raynor said.

Police are investigating the incident, but there is no word on charges, Raynor said.
