MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - Officials with the Coast Guard say two people were transported to the hospital after two boats collided at the mouth of Shem Creek Thursday afternoon.

Authorities at Coast Guard Sector Charleston received a report of a collision from a boater in the area who reportedly saw the collision.  Dispatch officials say an emergency call for the crash came in just before 2 p.m.

Emergency crews then deployed a 45-foot response boat to assist.

When crews arrived on scene, they brought aboard the two men who were on the boats involved in the collision.

A press release by the Coast Guard states that the men suffered head injuries as a result of the crash.

The men were transported to Magwood Dock where local EMS transported them to MUSC for treatment.
