JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating after members of a Johns Island church arrived Sunday morning to find pentagrams, upside down crosses, and other sacrilege spray-painted throughout the property.

The vandalism occurred at Abundant Life Church of God in Christ, located on Betsy Kerrison Parkway.

Assistant Pastor Cedric Fields says a member arrived at the church early Sunday morning to cut on the heat when she noticed a part of the building and two buses were vandalized.

In addition to finding pentagrams and upside down crosses spray-painted in green, members also found the words "SATAN" and "Church is for weenies" painted on vehicles.

"It was terrible. For somebody to come in, spray paint your church and see all these Satanism signs and stuff, that just lets us know the times that we're living in," Fields said.

Fields says a neighbor heard music and noise in the area Sunday around 1:30 a.m.

A report filed with the sheriff's office has not yet been released.

If you have any information on this incident, call Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111.
