Woman accused of embezzling more than $100k from N. Charleston company

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A 51-year-old Summerville woman accused of embezzling more than $100,000 from a North Charleston company turned herself in.

North Charleston police officials say Christine Wingard of Summerville surrendered on Wednesday.

Wingard was wanted on a charge of breach of trust.

She was given a $50,000 bond Wednesday night.

According to police, Wingard took $104,234.70 from Warren Fastenings South Inc. located on 2330 Air Park Rd.

Police say Wingard worked at the company as an office manager since 2006.

A police report states it was discovered taht Wingard had been systematically stealing money from the company by writing checks to pay her personal bills, and writing checks to herself and husband.

NCPD officials say a forensic audit was done, and Wingard was terminated from the company.
