CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police say forensic evidence recovered from the scene of an October copper theft has resulted in an arrest.

Allan Moore, 60, was arrested Friday and charged with first degree burglary and property crime enhancement.

Officers say Moore stole roughly $4,500 worth of copper pipes and wiring on October 20 from a home on Magnolia Avenue in the Wagener Terrace neighborhood.

According to police, evidence recovered from the scene was submitted to the Richland County Sheriff's Office, where they were able to extract DNA. The DNA resulted in a match with Moore.

Police say a search warrant executed at Moore's home recovered evidence from other burglaries in the area, each of which is still under investigation.

Moore is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center on a $20,000 bond.
