Police hockey teams to play memorial game for Deputy Matuskovic

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A memorial hockey game for Charleston County Deputy Joe Matuskovic will be played at the North Charleston Coliseum next month.

Deputy Joe Matuskovic Charity Day will be held on Saturday, January 24 with the Charleston Enforcers taking on the North American Blue Police Hockey team at 3 p.m. Police officers fill both teams' rosters.

Later in the evening the South Carolina Stingrays will play the Reading Royals at 7:05 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for both games, with $5 from every ticket purchased here going to the Deputy Matuskovic Charity Fund. Use group code "BATMAN" to get the offer.

Charleston County Deputy Joe Matuskovic was fatally wounded while responding to a disturbance call at the Gardens of Ashley River apartment complex the night of Sept. 8. His funeral, held on Sept. 15, was attended by more than 1,000 law enforcement officers from around the nation.
