Victim identified in fatal N. Charleston motorcycle crash

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Authorities identified the victim in a deadly accident involving a motorcycle and a car that closed three lanes of traffic on Rivers Avenue shortly before 5 p.m. on Friday.
The Charleston County coroner confirmed the driver of the motorcycle, 53-year-old Gary Wayne Phillips of Bonneau, died from head trauma around 4 p.m. after he was taken to the Trident Hospital.
Officials say he was not wearing a helmet.
The crash happened near the Super K mart, North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the accident.
