NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston police are investigating after a rental car company was broken into early Monday morning, and all its vehicle keys were stolen.

Police responded to a tripped alarm Monday at Hertz on Rivers Avenue around 4:36 a.m. Officers say they arrived to find a front glass door and window shattered, and the back door wide open.

An incident report states a manager confirmed the only thing missing was a small safe which contained the keys to all the rental cars at the branch. The safe was bolted to the floor.

The manager did not know if any cars were missing at the time, police say.
