NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - An early morning fire at North Charleston night club, Vegas the Movement, shut down parts of Ashley Phosphate road early Saturday morning.

Fire crews from North Charleston and Ashley River responded to the call around 6:30 AM.

Officials say flames and smoke were both visible from the building, and it took crews several minutes to put the fire out.

Vegas the Movement shares a wall with several apartments.  Residents evacuated temporarily, but no one was hurt.

Owners and employees gathered at the club Saturday, visibly shaken, and packed anything that could be salvaged.

They say the building was damaged by fire less than a year ago while owned by different management, and had just re-opened nine weeks ago.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
