Ahead of new town hall construction, several Mt. Pleasant offices prepare for temporary move

MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - In the coming months, the town of Mt. Pleasant is set to invest more than $20 million to build a new town hall. The three-story building is set to cover 90,000 square feet.

Said Assistant Town Administrator Katherine Hendricks, town officials are expecting final bids by mid-February.

In the meantime, several town offices are moving out of the current facility on Ann Edwards Lane.  Among them are the fire department headquarters, public services, the planning department, and finance division.

In early February, fire officials are expected to move to Egypt Road, while employees with the town's Public Services and Planning Department will move to the Six Mile area at 1355 Sweetgrass Lane.

Hendricks said between 75-100 employees will be directly impacted by the temporary move, many of which are expected in late February.

The police department and court will both remain on Ann Edwards Lane, until construction on the new building is complete.

Mt. Pleasant officials are also looking into more parking options once construction begins.  So far, no detailed plans have been announced.
