COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Emergency officials say a 3-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries after a truck backing out of a driveway struck him.

Officials with the Colleton County Fire and Rescue Department say they were notified around 9:40 p.m. about a "low speed" accident that happened at a yard in the 900 block of Logan Farm Road Saturday evening.

Authorities say a pickup truck was attempting to back out of a driveway when it struck the child.

The boy was carried back into the home after the incident.

Firefighter-paramedics found the child on a bed and began treating him in the house.

Authorities say a medical helicopter was requested as the boy was stabilized and immobilized.

LifeNet 7 responded and flew him to the Pediatric Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston.

No charges were filed in the incident.
