Officials: No injuries in single-engine plane crash in Georgetown Co.

GEORGETOWN COUTY, SC (WCSC) - Georgetown County Sheriff's Office says a pilot was uninjured following a plane crash near North Island Thursday afternoon.

Deputies say a small single-engine airplane with only a pilot on board crashed in Winyah Bay around 1 p.m. The Georgetown County Sheriff's Marine Patrol responded to the scene.

The pilot was rescued with no injuries, officials say.

The plane was a Cessna 172 according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA and the National Transportation Board were notified of the crash and will investigate the cause of the crash.
