CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Southwest Airlines will add Saturday service from Charleston International Airport to Dallas Love Field beginning April 11.
"The addition of Southwest's new service is one example in a growing number of new travel opportunities being created at Charleston International Airport, which in 2014 set a new passenger record of more than 3.1 million people," stated a press release by the Charleston County Aviation Authority.
Officials say in addition to a growing number of passengers, CHS's airlines continue to grow.
Last March, JetBlue added daily non-stop service to Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C. Coming up on Saturday, Porter Airlines joins the CHS community with weekly, seasonal service to Toronto, Canada. And on March 19, Silver Airways begins non-stop service to Orlando and Tampa, Fla.
Porter and Silver join Delta, United, Southwest, JetBlue, American and US Airways at CHS.
"This is a great time for the airport. We're growing through our terminal redevelopment project and the number of passengers coming through our airport is soaring." said Paul Campbell Jr., director of airports for the Charleston County Aviation Authority. "We're pleased that Southwest will offer Dallas as a destination for our passengers."
