SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Authorities have arrested a Summerville man on child pornography charges.

Michael Edward Davidson was charged with seven counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of minors. Investigators say Davidson was involved in sending child pornography via file sharing.

Deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office arrested Davidson on Monday. Bond was set at $70,000.

According to law enforcement officials, a desktop computer was seized for forensic examination along with an external storage device.

Davidson is to have no contact with children under the age of 17, no access to the Internet, and must remain at least two blocks from areas where children congregate.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.

Acting Berkeley County Sheriff Rick Ollic said, "This office will continue to fully support the S.C. Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Our number one priority is keeping the digital streets of the Internet just as safe for our children as the paved ones they play on in our neighborhoods."
