Coroner IDs cyclist killed in North Charleston hit-and-run

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run involving a bicyclist that occurred late Wednesday night.

Officials say 46-year-old Jathon Bellamy III, of Goose Creek, was struck by an unknown vehicle in the area of Cosgrove Avenue and Azalea Drive shortly after 11 p.m.

Bellamy was transported to MUSC where he died at 11:17 p.m. as a result of blunt force head and chest trauma, according to the Charleston County Coroner's Office.

Police say they do not have any identifying information regarding the vehicle that struck Bellamy.
