The Citadel's Moore, Wright Garner All-Conference Awards

CHARLESTON, SC - Following solid performances in Southern Conference play, The Citadel duo of Ashton Moore and Jake Wright, earned all-conference and all-freshman team selections, respectively, by both the league's coaches and media.

Moore joins Cameron Wells, Demetrius Nelson and Patrick Elmore as the only players in program history to be named to the media's first team all-conference. He also becomes the 10th different Bulldog to be recognized as an all-conference performer by the league's coaches.

The Suffolk, Va., native heads into the SoCon Tournament leading the team in eight major categories including minutes played (1,093), field goals made (171), 3-point field goals made (79), free throws made (110), assists, (105), steals (29), points (531) and points per game (18.3).

Moore, who earlier this season became the 31st player in Bulldog history to top 1,000 points, is currently 10 points shy of Gary Daniels for sixth on the all-time scoring list (1,389). He also recently joined the company of Jimmy Tharpe, Kevin Hammack, Cameron Wells, Marshall Harris III as the only players in program history to dish out 100 assists in consecutive seasons, following a 120-assist effort as a junior.

Wright, also named as an all-conference selection by both the coaches and media, capped off his first season in league play by ranking first in 3-pointers made (53) as well as third in points (190) and points per game (10.6) on the team.

The Hopkins, Minn., product joins Cameron Wells, Harrison Dupont, Matt Van Scyoc and Brian White as the only freshmen to be named to both teams.

Heading into Friday's first round SoCon Tournament clash with Furman, Wright has 71 3-pointers on the season, which places him third among all-time Citadel freshmen sharpshooters behind Austin Dahn (79) and Zach Urbanus (73).
