CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Camp Happy Days is hosting its 6th Annual Charleston Bed Race at its new venue in Blackbaud Stadium on Daniel Island on Sunday.
The Charleston community unites during this special charity event to raise money for childhood cancer research. Camp Happy Days, the non-profit organization hosting the event, offers summer camp and other life-changing programs throughout the year, shining a light for the children in South Carolina who are battling cancer.
A parade of bedazzled beds brightens Blackbaud beginning at one p.m., followed by the race itself. The battling beds compete two at a time on a course spanning approximately two city blocks. Competitors can earn awards for a variety of categories. These prizes will be distributed at the conclusion of the race.
Live music performed by Dan's Tramp Stamp and The Money Bags will contribute an upbeat and energetic soundtrack for the day.
Food provided by local Charleston food trucks will be available for the whole family to enjoy while watching the breathtaking events, and for re-fueling afterwards.
Sponsors for the 6th Annual Charleston Bed Race include: APECS Aerospace Corporation (presenting sponsor), Adams Outdoor Advertising, Marchant Chevrolet, Apex Broadcasting, Cumulus Broadcasting, Moe's Southwest Grill, Brown and Brown Insurance Company, Pelzer Law Firm, Harbor Pilot Association, Fins, Alison Kowalski Photography, Little Dog Agency, A&E Digital, Easter Coast AP Marketing, Anchor Sign, Charleston Mattress and Kickin Chicken.
