Moncks Corner man killed by police laid to rest

MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC) - Authorities are still investigating after a man from Moncks Corner was shot and killed by a police officer just outside of Atlanta last week.

Sunday, Anthony Hill's family got its first bit of closure as he was laid to rest in Berkeley County.

More than 100 people came to his funeral at Berkeley High School. Hill was 27 years old and an Air Force veteran.

He was bipolar and according to witnesses, he was naked and crawling on the ground when someone called police.

At Sunday's service, though, those speaking chose not to focus on his final hours but his finest days.

"He left us too soon, but I will thank God for every day, for the time that I had with him," one friend said.

His church leaders called him, "Inquiring, polite, well dressed," and his high school classmate said they'll remember, "His kindness, his love for music and his positivity."

The officer in the shooting has been suspended. The officer had a Taser but witnesses say it wasn't used.
