Both lanes of I-95 bridge to be reopened for Easter travel
FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) - Construction crews will temporarily reopen both lanes of the Interstate 95 north bridge over the Great Pee Dee River to help traffic over the Easter weekend.
The Department of Transportation says both lanes of the bridge about 15 miles north of Florence will be opened Thursday morning until Monday night.
Crews are repairing the bridge, which has had several holes form in its deck. The right lane has been closed since March 11, causing backups approaching 10 miles during the heaviest traffic.
On Monday, crews will begin more repairs by closing the left lane. The DOT hopes to complete the work by the end of April.
All trucks wider than 11 feet or overweight will still have to use a marked detour.
