One transported to hospital following shooting at N. Charleston neighborhood

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Investigators say one person was shot in a North Charleston neighborhood Thursday afternoon.

According to North Charleston police, officers responded to the 7500 block of Hunters Ridge Lane off of Ashley Phosphate Road in reference to shots fired around 5 p.m.

An incident report states a male victim who left the scene in a white Honda Civic was stopped by Dorchester County deputies on Ashley Phosphate. He was then transported to MUSC for treatment.

While officials say there is no information at this time on the cause of the shooting or suspects involved, the incident report states multiple people indicated to police it may have been drug related.

Detectives are speaking with residents to gather more information on the incident.
