NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A stalled school bus that began smoking off I-26 in North Charleston Monday morning has been towed from the scene, and all lanes are now open.
The stalled school bus was located on the I-26 westbound exit to Ashley Phosphate Road. North Charleston police and fire department responded to the scene, along with EMS.
The school bus, which never actually caught fire, has since been towed away.
According to Erica Taylor with Charleston County School District, heavy smoke was coming from the school bus due to a mechanical issue.
No children were on the bus, and the bus driver is okay, Taylor said.
