CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A Lowcountry store owner said it was quite a surprise for her to realize that some of the clothing she designed made it on the AMC show Mad Men.

"It was definitely a surprise and a really great one, at that. I'm a big fan of the show, so having one of the characters wearing our designs was really a huge compliment," said Megan Hewitt, owner of Shrimp and Grits Kids, a children's clothing and accessory shop located in Mount Pleasant.

Hewitt said she was watching the show and realized that Eugene Draper, son of Don Draper, was wearing a smocked boys outfit which she designed.

According to Hewitt, a quick flip back through the series revealed five of her unique smocked children's designs had been featured on the show.

"While our product spotlight was on a show that isn't filmed in Charleston, local retailers can still benefit from the national visibility that an increased TV and film production presence brings," Hewitt said.

"Shrimp and Grits Kids is a Charleston based ecommerce retailer that specializes in high quality, affordable, hand-smocked children's clothing and accessories," states a press release by the King Street Marketing Group."Since 2007, Shrimp and Grits Kids has grown from a local online retailer to a national company that hosts trunk shows in over 20 states."
